DUBLIN - January 10th, 2014 – Aalto Bio Reagents, a leading provider of proteins, monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, antigens and disease state plasma to the in-vitro diagnostic industry and to research laboratories globally, today announced the availability of DIY HIV-1 ELISA starter packs. The packs comprise antibody and recombinant protein components for HIV-1 p24gag and HIV-1gp120env in a ‘do-it-yourself’ research ELISA kit. Starter packs are available for DIY protocols 1, 2 and 3 for assay of HIV-1 p24gag and protocol 4 for HIV-1gp120env. The assays are being used widely by AIDS research laboratories in Europe, the United States and Africa for monitoring HIV-1 replication in a range of research applications. These include monitoring the effect of drug inhibitors of HIV-1 replication, including inhibitors of virus entry and reverse transcription and measuring the effect of virus neutralising antibodies. “The popularity of our DIY HIV-1 ELISA starter packs continues to grow. Our AIDS research customers are using our DIY protocols because they are technically sound and yet considerably cheaper than using higher sensitivity commercial assays that are licensed for clinical use. This exciting launch today marks the first in a series of dynamic new products coming down the line enabling our customers to bring superior differentiating end products to market faster.” said Philip Noone, Managing Director, Aalto Bio Reagents
